In Newport RI, winter is the longest season. So, inspite of the long nights, cold temperatures and snow the season brings, we over come our doldrums by throwing a festival. In Newport, RI Winter is not a seson to escape. It is a season to embrace. What better way to celebrate than with a Winter festival. Coinciding with the kick-off of Newport Winter festival is Valentine's . . . Nice timing!

Bring your sweet heart and/or little sweeties and amaze your family with a host of activities downtown and around the Island of Newport.

4pm: Polar Pineapples
Hyatt Regency Newport Hotel and Spa, One Goat Island. comedy8:00pm: Winter Festival Comedy Show with Paul D’Angelo and Jamie Lissow presented by the Newport Comedy Series & Newport Winter Festival at the Hotel Viking, One Bellevue Ave.  Presenting two hilarious headliners in one night! Jamie Lissow is one of the funniest comedy club headliners in America.  He has appeared in many television programs including The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Last Comic Standing, more than 30 times on Fox News Redeye and in his own half-hour special on Comedy Central.  Jamie has performed at hundreds of clubs and colleges.  He has been nominated for Campus Performer of the Year by Campus Activities Magazine.  He can be heard on the Sirius/XM Radio, Pandora, Opie and Anthony and The Bob and Tom Show.  He is currently working on a television show with actor and former Saturday Night Live star Rob Schneider.  Jamie will be making his Newport debut on February 14th.   Also, presenting comedian Paul D’Angelo featured in Showtime’s Godfathers of Comedy. He combines his charismatic stage presence and spontaneous improvisational talents to create a fantastic comedy performance.  Paul takes everyday experiences and make them sound absolutely hilarious! $25/$20 with button, VIP $50/$45 with button or in advance.  Call 401-847-7666 to buy tickets. Saturday, February 15th

 11am-2:30pm: Ice Sculpting Demonstration presented by Bailey T’s
12 Long Wharf Mall. Ice sculptors wield their chisels, chain saws, blow dryers and powerice competition sanders as they create masterpieces. Don’t miss these spectacular works of ice! The ice sculptures will be on display until they melt. To participate or for more information call the festival office at 401.847.7666. FREE

11am-3:30pm: 19th Annual Samuel Adams Chili Cook-Off 

Newport Harbor Hotel, 49 America’s Cup Avenue.  Winter heats up as area restaurants, caterers and the local fire department compete to see who has the best chili in town!  Bring your appetite, sharpen your taste buds, and join in the fun as you choose your favorite chili!  Prizes will be provided by Samuel Adams Brewery and the Newport Winter Festival.  Don’t miss the chance to taste them all and vote for your favorite!  Call 847-7666 for more information.  Adults $10/$6 w/button, Children (6-10) $3/$2 w/button.  Children under 5 Free!   Tickets will be available for purchase at the door- advance tickets are not required.

8:30pm:  Jimmy Buffet Tribute Band – Changes in Latitudes
