2013 Newport Jazz Festival

Boogie on down to Newport for this year’s Jazz Festival!  We still have availability at the Ivy
Lodge Bed and Breakfast,
and they won’t last long! It is going to be a great weekendNewport Jazz Festival 2013 for a getaway, and a great time to enjoy the outdoors while listening to some smooth Jazz.  With a Ten minute walk down Bellevue Avenue from the Ivy Lodge, the 2013 Jazz festival will kick off at the International Tennis Hall of Fame with a Friday night concert under the stars.  Built in 1880 as the Newport Casino, the grounds of the Tennis Hall of Fame are a portal to an era of Newport elegance and Gilded Age charm. Whether you enjoy sipping cocktails under the gazebo, or sitting in the stands beneath a cool Atlantic breeze, it's hard to imagine a better place to see this year's headliner, Natalie Cole, performance than on the same center court where the likes of Big Bill Tilden once made history.

The following day our guests can hop in a car for a beautifully scenic 10 mile drive down Newport’s Ocean drive to the continuing festival at Fort Adams.  The festival features two full days of jazz on three stages at Fort Adams, situated at the mouth of Newport Harbor with panoramic views of the Newport Bridge and the East Passage. Not only will the music be incredible but there abundant activities to do while on the Fort.  In between sets at Fort Adams State Park , guests can visit the relaxing Louis Jadot Wine Cafés, satisfy your cravings a the food booths, shop at the unique crafts booths, or nourish your mind and visit one of the Non-Profit Village booths.  Guest will be able to enjoy the spectacular experience with sprawling lawns, and breathtaking vistas.

This year they'll be coming from icons that include Chick Corea, Wayne Shorter and the legendary Herbie Hancock; and up-and-comers such as Hiromi, Esperanza Spalding, Fort Adams Gregory Porter, and Miguel Zenón. Listen to them from one of the three beer and wine gardens. Listen to them while enjoying the array of festival food. Listen to them while exploring the rows of unique and diverse arts and crafts. Or listen to them from the lawn of the showcase Fort Stage, where, in the shadow of the Newport Bridge, serious and casual music fans will be spread out on blankets and folding chairs, sharing lobster rolls and sharing stories, bobbing their heads to the rhythms of the legends they've come to see, and exchanging glances at the unexpected chops of emerging artists.
