            This year will mark the 45th season of the Newport Music Festival and its ongoing tradition of presenting unique chamber music programs, American debuts, world class artists, and special events held in the famous Mansions of Newport RI. This year will be Newport Music Festival’s most ambitious seasons yet, with an abundant line up of 62 concerts one would think it would be hard to find new firsts to claim the stagedescribe the image but this year will be filled with them.  With music ranging from Bach to Brudeck the festival will also present some of our timeless favorite chamber music composers playing tribute to the bicentennials of the iconic opera titans; Giuseppe Verdi and Richard Wagner. Not only will the festival offer unique roster of composers but they will for the first time broaden their menu by embracing programs of ragtime, tango, and Klezmer.

Another first for the festival can be found in its family which will encompass 70 musicians hailing from 18 countries, with 40 of whom will be making their Newport debut.  Along with returning artists the festival has so much to offer to any kind of music lover, with festival highlights such as Box Lunch concerts, Family and children concerts, Midnight series, and Sunset concerts at the breakers there will be fun for all to enjoy.

Box Lunch Concerts are one of the many special events held by the Newport Music Festival this year with four opportunities on the Elm’s Courtyard on Saturday July 13th and July 20th, with events on Sunday July 21st, and a Friday event on July 26th.  Morning concerts are held at 11 am fallowed by a box lunch around 1pm, and afternoon concerts at 2pm.  Tickets are $50.00 per person and it will be a special treat form “neath the elms”.

Concerts are held throughout the week, making it a perfect opportunity to plan for a trip down to Newport’s historic Mansion district and our beautiful beaches.  Come stay with us at the Ivy Lodge and take advantage of our midweek rates while enjoying all that the Newport Music festival has to offer. If you plan on coming with the entire family, the Newport Music Festival offers a special event during the week just for you.  The Family and Children concerts is 

casino theatreperfect for guests of all ages.  This concert will incorporate a delightful duo of pianists Frederic Chiu and story teller David Gonzales as the bring entertaining to both the Casino Theatre and Blithewold Mansion.  The family concerts will consist of storytelling of family classics such as Peter and the Wolf, and The Story of Babar. Family concerts will be held on July 22nd -24th.  Treat your inner night owl with one of the Newport Music Festivals Midnight Concerts.  This midweek concert is one hour long , and will delight you with Bach partitas, rare chamber music and a sonata by violinists Eugene Tzikindelean, the Goldberg Variations arranged for string trio.  You will also enjoy songs and dances by virtuoso violinist Tasmin Little with the late night cabaret style buffet.  Join us for the incredible festival artist at 11p.m. to midnight at the Newport Grand Event Center on July 23rd and 24th tickets cost $20.00 per person.
