The Bit Players comedy troupe, Rhode Island’s award winning improvisational group is another great reason to visit the City by the Sea. Their high energy performances have a format similar to the show Whose Line Is It? Audience participation is essential and suggestions are incorporated into the routines with a result that no two shows are ever the same. The players are creative master minds who develop a host of “hysterical characters, hilarious musical numbers and games on the spot”.
We recently attended a show on St. Patrick's day. It was a great crowd and the Players did not disappoint. Mixing Irish bits, with some of their standard ones, the laughs just kept on coming. The Firehouse Theater is the perfect venue. It is intimate, and very comfortable.
This tireless group performs all year long on Friday and Saturdays nights. There are usually two shows a night with during the busy summer months. Some shows are scheduled as family friendly. Guests can BYOB and non-alcoholic drinks are available.
The Bit Players are at the Firehouse Theater, 4 Equality Park Place in Newport. The shows usually sell out so make a plan to add this terrific entertainment to your next visit to Newport. You won’t stop laughing. If you are staying over join us at the Ivy Lodge. Visit us at www.ivylodge.com.
