October’s featured food celebration is the Bowen’s Wharf 26th Annual Seafood Festival (October 15 and 16). This celebration honors the “Harvest of the Sea” on the historic waterfront downtown. Favorite dishes and new ones will feature fresh, local seafood from area waterways and local watermen. Admission is free.
It is the Newport Fall Restaurant Week that brings all of these elements together. This biannual celebration in spring and fall, utilizes the vast talents of the area to provide 3 course meals at an affordable price (prixe fixe lunch $16 and dinner $35) for visitors and residents. This year it is November 4-13. The special menus of appetizer, entrée and dessert allow for some very special offerings and drink pairings. Over 50 restaurants participate in both Newport and Bristol Counties. Many are on the waterfront or located in historic settings and buildings. The local fields and waters fill the kitchens, tables, and forks with ingredients. You’ll want to try them all.
